Publishing Institute
An annual feature of the ISPCK, has pioneered the importance of professional expertise in the area of publishing. Over the last decade extensive training has been extended in each aspect of publishing be it editorial, DTP, Production, Marketing & Distribution, Finance & Administration. Christian Communicators from metros as well as remote areas of our country and neighbours, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Madagascar have received training from a team of resource people developed from Christian and secular publishing houses and communication agencies. The Publishing training is spread over a two week programme during which a communicator is given an exhaustive exposure by way of interactive lecture sessions. These are then substantiated by clinics to help them practice what they have learnt and then field trips to the printers to see for themselves the finer points of publishing.
With daily interaction with the staff of the ISPCK, the communicators get an opportunity to discover the workings of a publishing house-the ISPCK bookshop, publishing, marketing, accounting, warehousing departments becoming a model in this context.
The participants are encouraged and challenged to share of their individual context in their organisation and support is provided through discussions to build upon their strengths. Further help is extended through network support and expertise in their own context whenever required by their organisation.
A certificate for successful completion is provided at the end of the training. The ISPCK publishing institute focuses on setting the tone of publishing for the coming years while providing an opportunity for skill development to women, not-so-privileged groups and co-publishing, thereby building up a Christian Resource Centre.
