Barefoot is a metaphor for frugality; a very rural and traditional way of life. Being barefoot is not alien to our culture. The term 'barefoot doctors' was used to connote an attitude of austerity and servant leadership amongst the medical fraternity. This memoir is about the legacy a barefoot pastor passed on to his son, and the author, Bishop Dhirendra Sahu, conveys a life enriched through barefoot experiences that have brought him closer to his inner self, the world, the Word, and God.
