The gospel of John, though also a part of the story of Jesus, has a different perspective from that of the synoptic (the first three gospels) and has to be approached in a different way in order to appreciate its message. Writings related to the Johannine school of thought – I, II, III John and the book of revelation – are also taken up here so that they can be grouped as originating from a common Johannine community/circle of thought.
