This book is envisaged as a handbook of fundamental or general catechetics an endeavour or an effort at a systematic reflection on the identity and the general conditions for implementation of the catechetical enterprise at present. Our chief interest is to create and form the mind-set of catechists and of those responsible for catechesis, and to provide useful and key elements for understanding and responding to questions that underlie the practice of catechesis. Keeping with the signs of the times, this volume, revised and updated, is an attempt to remould and promote an adequate understanding of the science of catechesis and to evolve a catechetical process that would lead to a renewed understanding of catechesis as truly essential for the transformation of the life of the Christian and the Christian community.
