Towards a New Indian Christology

Contemporary theology is often characterized by a regrettable opposition between historical and contextual approaches, as if the legacy of previous centuries had no more relevance for the Christians of today. The present work clearly shows how this is a misconception: drawing on the resources of Chalcedonian thought, the author lays the foundations for a new Christology that is uncompromisingly traditional, no less than authentically Indian. Bridging together Raimon Panikkar's daring dialogical vision with contemporary systematics and patristic scholarship, Dr Punam Rai's work may well start a new chapter in the history of Indian contextual theology.
